Antioxidant Sun Butter with Non-Nano Zinc Oxide

I love this product so much, I find that it is one of the few moisturizers that protect my prone to acne skin without causing breakouts while camouflaging existing hyperpigmentation. My only complaint is that there is not a lot of information regarding what type of protection it offers against the sun. I don’t know the SPF factor, how often it needs to be reapplied and what type of rays (UVB, UVA) it protects my skin against. Would love to see more of that included in the packaging or the website :)

I used this after seeing Zoe Kravitz use it and swearing there was no white cast. After I bought this, I just knew I was going to regret it. Just looking at it in the jar, I knew this was not going to work with my dark skin. Now, sunscreen is not meant to be used "lightly". At least not for adequate sun protection. 2 finger lengths. I put this on and looked like a ghost, no matter how much I rubbed it in. Even my makeup couldn't completely cover up the ghostly appearance it gave me. So, I used much, MUCH less. (Again, this meant I wasn't going to get adequate sun protection). Literally, just barely dabbed my finger on top of the product and tested it on the back of my hand. No matter how much I rubbed it in, it still left a white cast. Now, this was after using a dab, essentially. It was a complete waste of money because ISun does not allow you to return opened or used products and this stuff is expensive. Essentially, I was not able to use any of it. My skin tone: think Gabrielle Union shade of brown. Not for the dark skinned. Unless, you don't mind white cast or wear your makeup so thick you know your foundation will cover it right up. I am Fenty 420 to 440. Doesn't matter how thin of a layer you put on. It's all white cast.

i love this product very much! funny enough it contains coconut oil but yet it does not break me out which is amazing! A LITTLE goes a long way and i really mean that, the jar is more than worth the price, seriously i am still learning what amount works for me but it is great

It’s perfect over my daily moisturizer. Not too thick for daily wear. Not clogging my pores or giving me any adverse reaction. Lovely smell. I think I’ve FINALLY found my favorite sunblock EVER! I spend a lot of time making sure I buy the best products for clean, natural and healthy skin. This ISUN slides right into my beauty routine seamlessly. Love!

For my melanated ladies….
I bought this after seeing a beloved actresses’ daughter use it. I was excited about the ingredient list because I’ve been searching for a mineral sunscreen that is actually 100% mineral (almost all sunscreens listed as 100% mineral actually still include chemical boosters).

On first use I liked the smell, and the texture— but it has a Very obvious white cast. I was determined to play with it and make it work because I haven’t been able to find a true chemical free, natural product. With some tweaks it can work for us. Here’s my tips:

1. MOISTURIZER. your skin MUST be hydrated before using this. After washing my face I like to spritz a botanical spray and then apply my moisturizer, and then the sun butter. I notice a huge difference when my skin isn’t moisturized

2. SPOT TREAT. I then dab a little of the sun butter on the slight hyperpigmentation spots I have to make sure they have fullest coverage

3. MICRO THIN LAYERS. I then apply 2-3 THINNNNNNNN layers of the sun butter. If you slap it on thick you’ll be ghostly and ghastly, I like to take a tiny scoop and rub the fingertips of my right hand together first then gently press my butter covered hand onto my face so a thin layer appears. Then with my clean left hand, That layer is then pressed into my skin repeatedly before applying the next layer with my butter covered right hand. This ensures buildable coverage and mitigates white cast

4. PRESS. DO NOT RUB.

5. MAKEUP. I’ve also found that a light swipe of foundation power (which I use anyway when going outside the house) eliminates any residual cast from my above method (though if you follow the method the white cast is barely noticeable).

There you have it. Is it really extra when you could just buy a product without white cast? YES. I admit this is a whole lotta extra effort to make it work. But it really doesn’t that that long , and for me it’s worth it to take the extra steps because the ingredient list is THAT good . I want natural skincare as much as possible and this is as natural as it gets.

Your mileage may vary. But as a brown-skinned woman (Fenty 420/ Pat McGrath medium dark) , this method works for me.
